Ranges
Cub Scout Packs are not able to reserve the ranges. According to the Guide to Safe Scouting, Cub Scout Packs are not allowed to have unit shooting sports events. Archery and BB are only allowed at Council or District sponsored events.
Archery

- Archery $100 per 3 hour session

- Reservation is contingent upon volunteer certified staff availability (can be unit provided but must be verified by R&TA Chair)
- If staffing cannot be confirmed for reservation date, a full refund will be issued

- Fees include the rental and use of range, all equipment and ammo provided
- Archery Range conducted by a BSA National Camp School Shooting Director or a USAA Archery Instructor Level 1 (minimum) with these credentials recorded with the Council Shooting Sports Committee
- A ratio of 1:8 will be maintained
- Range & Target Activity Permission Form - All shooters must have a completed and signed waiver (can be turned in at the range to the Range lead day of).

- COMMERCIAL AMMO can be donated to Council 1 week BEFORE the event and earmarked for "use" on the day of the event
- NO unused donated AMMO can be returned
- UNITS CANNOT BRING AMMO to the Range
- Council ranges will be under the supervision of a range safety officer, 21 years of age or older, holding a current NRA range safety officer certification
- There must also be one or more NRA instructor(s) certified for that firearm, 21 years of age or older, holding a current a current NRA instructor certification
- All range safety officers and NRA-certified firearm instructors must have a copy of their certification(s) on file with the NRA training team/shooting sports committee as well as on their person while operating the range
- A minimum of 2 adults must be present, and a 1 adult / 8 youth ratio is required
- Rifle range reservations use camp rifles and require 2 staff - NRA RSO & NRA Rifle Instructor
- Pistol use requires 1 NRA RSO and a 1:1 ratio of NRA Pistol Instructor: Venture....Training Required: NRA FIRST Steps (three hours) or NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course (eight hours). Taught by a National Camping School shooting sports director certified as an NRA pistol instructor or an NRA certified pistol instructor.
- Muzzle Loader Rifle 1:8 for instruction, 1:1 when loading and firing.
- Range & Target Activity Permission Form - All shooters must have a completed and signed waiver (can be turned in at the range to the Range lead day of).

2026 Ammo Costs
- $25 Box of Shotgun Shells #25 rounds (20g or 12g limited quantity)
- $10 box of .22LR (#50 rounds)
Non-Scout Groups
The following is a change in our policy effective immediately.
All non-scouting groups must call the Camp Birch office at 937-325-6449 for pricing and to make a reservation. All non-scouting groups will need to furnish a liability insurance policy that must be at least $2 million naming Tecumseh Council as a certificate holder additional insured prior to their arrival at camp. A homeowner can add a liability waiver to a homeowner's policy to name Tecumseh Council as additionally insured, and the homeowner can specify the date or dates of coverage. Some policies however do not have this coverage, so please check with your insurance agent prior to making a reservation.
All non-scouting groups must sign our hold harmless agreement.
If an individual or group cannot provide both of these documents, then they are not able to make a reservation at Camp Birch.
If these documents are not received prior to the group’s arrival at camp, the reservation will be cancelled without refund.
