Grow Scouting in your community while promoting your business!
The Merit Badge Sponsorship Program is designed to offer business and community supporters unique marketing benefits themed around the BSA merit badge program.
Become a Merit Badge Sponsor
Scouting prepares youth for success in life by offering over 139 merit badges which allow our youth to explore a variety of subjects from Astronomy to Woodworking. By sponsoring the Merit Badge of your choice, you will be providing life-changing programs, character development and helping to build leadership skills in young people.
Investing in Scouting Makes Sense!
Our Merit Badge Sponsorship Program offers marketing and visibility opportunities for your business; reaching over 1,400 youth and 1,000 adult leaders throughout the Miami Valley.
It’s More than a Patch!
The Merit Badge Sponsorship Program provides structured, safe activities that allow youth to grow, explore vocations, build new skills, and develop lifelong hobbies. There is no better time than now to help guide our youth in a positive direction.
It’s about so much more than dollars!
When you choose to sponsor a merit badge, your organization has the opportunity to give so much more than dollars to the Scouting program. There’s a good chance you are passionate about the skills fostered by the merit badge, and you have a genuine interest in sharing your passion with the young people working on the merit badge.
We love passionate subject matter experts! When your organization sponsors a merit badge, members of your organization have the opportunity to register as merit badge counselors. We recognize that community engagement is a priority for many businesses and organizations, and we’re happy to facilitate that engagement by providing chances for you and your people to volunteer as mentors to our youth by registering as merit badge counselors.

Scouting helps young people in five critical areas of growth:
- Connection | Scouts are part of a community, something bigger than themselves.
- Competency | Scouts learn basic life skills that supplement their classroom education.
- Confidence | Through leadership and practical experience, Scouts gain a sense of their purpose and potential.
- Caring | A Scout is a friend to all and through community service learns how to positively contribute to society.
- Character | A Scout is guided by the values of the Scout Oath and Law to make ethical and moral choices with strong values.
Scouting underpins the development needs and education of youth by:
- Ongoing adult mentoring | Scouting is a youth-led program supported by adult volunteers. The adults who choose to devote their time to being a positive influence for youth outside their own household make a multi-year commitment, seek and receive continuous training, and model the Scout Oath and Law, creating an environment where young people feel heard, seen, and supported during a critical time in their personal development.
- Teaching relevant and useful life skills | Scouting offers young people the opportunity - through reading, comprehension, practical application, and field trip activities - to build knowledge and know-how related to 135+ topics that often help them discover and develop their purpose and passion in life.
- Opportunities to hone leadership skills | Youth plan out and lead most of the meetings and activities in Scouting, mentored by adult volunteers who often where Scouts themselves. This interactive dynamic bolsters their confidence, establishes solid interpersonal skills, encourages teamwork, and teaches the value of follow through.
