Camp Policies
Please observe the following rules during your stay:
- Camp is CLOSED for scheduled maintenance every Sunday at noon to Tuesday at 10 am. No one may be on camp property at this time without permission from the Camp Ranger.
- When arriving at camp, please park in main parking lot and check in at the camp office in the McMillian Building located to the southwest of the main parking lot. A copy of the unit roster marked with who is in attendance and a short itinerary of your weekend should be turned in at this time. Any visitors or late arrivals must check in at the camp office upon arrival.
- Camp office is open from 5 to 9 pm Friday evening, 8 am to 9 pm Saturday and 8 am to 12 pm on Sunday. If you are arriving late Friday evening or leaving early Sunday morning please notify the Campmaster or Ranger. All units must be checked out before 11 am Sunday morning.
- Camp is winterized November 1 to April 1. During this time there will be no public modern restroom facilities available.
- Water is available in most campsites at the frost free hydrant or wash stand. During the winter months Miami, Baden Powell, Simon Kenton, and Lagonda campsites do not have water. Units can get water at the frost free hydrant at the Carmony Lodge, the climbing tower or other nearby campsites.
- Firewood is generally available at the quartermaster building. Availability of firewood may be impacted by situations beyond the control of camp management. Units are strongly encouraged to gather firewood from around their campsite.
- Quiet hours on camp are from 11 pm to 7 am.
- No outside pets allowed are allowed. Exceptions will be made for service animals. Exceptions must be cleared with the Campmaster or Ranger.
- The Turner Conference Center is no longer open for general use. Use of the facilities, including the rest rooms are exclusively for the group who has rented the facility.
- In accordance with Scouting America policy, we strongly discourage the use of all tobacco products. Tecumseh Council prohibits smoking on all camp properties except in the parking lot in your personal vehicle. Smoking and the use of smokeless tobacco products is not permitted by anyone under the age of 18. Smoking and the use of any tobacco product, (to include but not limited to: electronic cigarettes, dip, or chew) must be out of view of any youth. Smoking in any building, tent or within 50 feet of the door of one of these structures, is prohibited by law. Please dispose of all litter in a sanitary manner. In accordance with Scouting America policy, no alcohol or drugs are allowed on Tecumseh Council property.
At the end of your stay please:
- Take all trash to the dumpster at the rear of the Dining Hall.
- Make sure all camp fires are dead out.
- Please make sure all lights are turned off and thermostats are turned down to 55 during winter months.
- Allow stoves and fireplaces to burn down and leave dampers open.
- Check out with the Campmaster or Ranger.
- Report any maintenance needs to the Campmaster or Ranger.

Payment Policy
- For weekend camping only, a refund can be obtained by canceling the reservation at least four weeks in advance.
- If you are a no-show, your fees will be forfeited.
- Full payments for weekend camping are required within 14 days of the reservation or the unit will lose the reservation.
- In general, refunds WILL NOT be given for inclement weather. Refunds will only be given for inclement weather if Camp Birch is forced to close due to weather, or a no drive weather emergency in issued in Greene County.
Vehicle Policy
The safety of our Scouts, leaders and Scouting families at Camp Birch is always of the upmost importance to
our council leadership. After extensive review, Tecumseh Council has implemented safe vehicle guidelines at
Camp Birch that are becoming standard protocol at many other youth serving camp facilities. Please
understand that the purpose of this policy is to protect the youth and the adults who visit camp.
In order to ensure the safety of the campers and the staff at Camp Birch, please observe the following during
your visit:
- On arrival, please park in the parking lot and check in with Campmaster or Ranger at the McMillian building.
Units should provide a color, make and model for every vehicle with the group. - Any driver wishing to drive on camp must sign the vehicle policy upon check in with the Campmaster.
- After dropping off equipment in campsites or buildings, all vehicles must be parked in the main parking lot.
Units are welcome to leave trailers and one vehicle at the campsite or designated parking area. - All passengers must be in seats, with seatbelts. It is not permitted to ride in truck beds, trailers etc.
- Camp speed limit is 10 miles per hour.
- No vehicle traffic is permitted in camp between 12:00 am Saturday and 7:00 am Sunday without permission
from the Camp Ranger or Campmaster. Please contact the Campmaster or Ranger if other arrangements are
needed. - All vehicles must stay on designated roadways.
- Special accommodations will be provided to those drivers with a State issued handicapped parking pass or a
physician’s note stating restrictions. - All non-Camp owned vehicles in Camp other than during move-in and move-out times must exhibit a vehicle
permit provided by the Camp Ranger.
Any failure to follow these driving procedures will lead to immediate loss of driving privileges!
